Heartworm Disease Causes And Prevention
Heartworm disease in dogs and cats have been diagnosed in all 50 states. While a more serious threat to pets living in the south, pets in all US states are susceptible to heartworms. Almost all mosquitoes carry heartworm parasites and inject them into the pet’s body when they bite. Heartworms will develop within the blood vessels of your pet before migrating to the heart and pulmonary vessels. The heartworm will eventually grow to be several inches long.
